Nurse Practitioner Program

Whether you are an infant or a senior citizen, whether you need a healthcare provider checkup, advice about diabetes or help in managing stress, your Nurse Practitioner can help you.

Nurse Practitioners (NP) are registered with and regulated by the College of Nurses of Ontario. Legislation in Ontario gives the NP the independent authority to diagnose and treat common illnesses and injuries, prescribe certain medications, and order certain lab tests, x-rays and ultrasound within their scope of practice.

Health care is about more than treating illness; it is also about promoting health and preventing illness. The NP plays an important role in helping you to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle. Your NP also works with your community to promote heath and safety.

The Nurse Practitioners office is located at the Wawa Family Health Team within the Lady Dunn Health Centre. Outreach services are provided.
